When you are on a paid package with quintly, you have access to all available data that we have in our database. If you are on one of our free trials the historic data is limited to the past two months. Depending on the network and whether or not another user has added the social profile you wish to track already, the amount and types of historic data can vary. There are other factors that can also affect what data is available.

Historic data - Facebook

As of 6th of February, 2018 Facebook no longer provides historic fan count data in their API, this means that the complete data availability is limited. We can only start tracking audience data (fan count) from the day a profile was added to our tool for the first time by any quintly user. This change in Facebook's API doesn't affect the interaction data provided, therefore you are still able to analyze this data from the day a profile was created.

Historic data - Other networks

Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and Snapchat shows have their APIs set up differently. For these networks, complete data is available starting the day it is first added to the tool. Now this “complete data” is made up of two parts - Audience Data and Interaction Data. Interaction Data often goes back up to a few months before the profile is added, while Audience Data begins on the add date. When you are analyzing a Twitter page that is connected to Analytics the data typically goes back the past 90 days. For Instagram pages that are connected to Insights in quintly we can only see the data from the day when it was converted into a business profile.

We already have over a million profiles in our database, some of whose history goes back 5-7 years. However, that does not cover everything. If a profile is new for us, we will start tracking it instantly. You can always see the data availability by clicking on the profile name.

Gaps in data

In some cases, there can be missing gaps of data. This may occur if you delete the profile and then re-add it at a later date or if your account expires. Or for example, if you convert the Instagram profile to a personal profile then back to a business profile there can be missing data. It is important to actively track the profile to keep the imports active.

Deleted content

If a post or comment has been imported into our database and is then deleted by the profile or user, we will continue to have it in our tool, and the data for it (interactions, followers etc.) will be the last imported values we have for those metrics.

If a post or comment is deleted by the profile or user before we can import it into our database, then it will not be available in the tool.

Note: Since Facebook Insights and YouTube Analytics are live data, they will not include deleted posts.

Hidden content

If a post or comment has been imported into our database and is then hidden by the profile or user, we will continue to have it in our tool, and the data for it (interactions, followers etc.) will be the last imported value we have for those metrics.

If a post or comment is hidden by the profile or user before we can import it into our database, then it will not be available in the tool.

Note: Facebook Insights will show hidden posts.

Facebook page & post targeting

Some Facebook pages have country and/or age restrictions set, resulting in the data for these pages being removed from Facebook’s public API. That means in the tool you may experience missing data, or even be unable to add the page to your account in the first place.

A post can have specific targeting totally separate from the targeting of the overall page. Facebook removes targeted posts data from their public API, meaning they will be missing from the public metrics within the tool.

You can easily identify if a post is targeted or not by checking the top left corner of the post. A globe signifies a public post while a cog signifies a custom targeted post.

Note: Restrictions will not affect data within any of the Facebook Insights metrics.

Private profiles & other account types

Private profiles: Data regarding private profiles (Facebook pages that are not public, private Twitter and Instagram accounts, etc.) are not available in their respective networks’ public APIs, so they cannot be tracked in quintly. However if they become public, they can then be tracked.

Personal accounts: Data regarding personal Facebook and LinkedIn accounts are not available in their respective networks’ public APIs, so they cannot be tracked in quintly.

Facebook groups: Data regarding Facebook groups (even if they’re public) are not included in Facebook’s public API, so they cannot be tracked in quintly.
