Deprecations

We have decided to finally sunset the paid post detection feature. For more than 2 years we are not promoting this functionality anymore in any of our default metrics in Discover for good reasons. The meaning behind a Facebook post being "potentially paid" is questionable and we haven't seen that function to unfold the customer value we hoped for when releasing it years ago.

With immediate effect past metrics still referencing that data will show posts as "Not yet tagged" and a NULL value will be returned for the related isPotentiallyPaid column in data source facebookOwnPosts.

In about 3 months we are planning to officially deprecate this column, which is the indicator for this column to be fully removed soon after. Further communication will happen at that point. Until then, it will simply return NULL values instead. This is done to softly fade out the remaining usage of this column and not break any existing implementations today.

Deprecations

Data sources instagramTvPosts and instagramInsightsTvPosts will be deprecated on May 11th, 2022, based on Instagram's announcement combining IGTV and feed videos into one format - Instagram Video. Former IGTV videos are now returned by data sources instagramOwnPosts and instagramInsightsOwnPosts instead. This also includes historic IGTV videos. Data sources instagramTvPosts and instagramInsighstTvPosts will return empty results from today onwards. Please make sure to remove all references to the IGTV specific data sources until May 11th, when these data sources will be completely removed.

twitterMentions

  • This data source does now include Retweeted Tweets by default, now returning all Tweets mentioning @handle of a profile - no exceptions. Please note that the whole data source is still based on Twitter's Standard Search API resulting in only a sample set of Tweets being considered.
